This is my collection of Clarins skincare. I really like using Clarins - it doesn't dry or irritate my skin.

September Empties

I used up some goodies last month. Oh, yes I did :) These empties are far more effective at getting me to use up products than a project pan, that's for sure!

What did I get through?

Bed Head Epic Volume conditioner: I think I had this for about 2 years. It's a huge 1 litre bottle and took me forever to use. A nice light conditioner so it didn't drag down my hair, but had a very sweet berry smell to it (and I can't stand overly perfumed products) so I got over using it in the end, but I did use it all!

Parrs Thermal Mud hand and body lotion: A gift from my in-laws , brought back from New Zealand. A light moisturiser with a nice earthy smell. Only downside is that it left a brown residue on the skin if it wasn't rubbed in properly or too much was used.

Maybelline Express Care eye and lip makeup remover: VERY similar to the Nutrogena Oil-Free eye makeup (which I prefer!).

Napro Super Soft Colour Shine shampoo: Very soapy and 'slippery' feeling and it's for this reason that I ended up using it as a shaving cream/body wash/shampoo. So versatile!

PPS Original Lacquer Salon Strength hairspray: Made my hair stay in place without the 'crunchy' feeling.

Rexona Crystal Clear Aqua roll-on for women: Can I say this is my GH for anti-perspirants?! I've used others and I always go back to this one. Last time they were on special I bought 5 of them, lol!

Girlz Only dry shampoo: A $2 cheapy from Target and, yes, you do get what you paid for. Make sure you brush your hair thoroughly after applying as it leaves white patches!

Marc Daniels Moisture Milk: A leave-in treatment that does what it says...but you need to use ssooooo much of it! It even says that on the back of the tube!

Beauty Tip Eleven: Being Fashionably Chic!

Below I have three pieces of fashion advice I believe every woman should consider.

I used to wonder why I had such a hard time trying to be trendy. I've tried keeping up with trends but they soon become faux pas. It took the latest pastels and neons trend for me to realise that I don't need to try and keep up. I mean, what's wrong with being timeless and ladylike?

That's why when I saw the advice, below, from Cosmopolitan I had to share it because it is the absolute truth!!!

"Here's a fashion oxymoron: To be always in style, you've got to give up being trendy. As every truly chic woman has learnt, trends come and go; timeless stays."

Another piece of style advice that I read (but can't remember where) is:

"Dress for the job you want and not the job you have."

And last, but not least some advice I read in a past Shop 'til You Drop magazine:

"Only buy the pieces you really love!"

What are your fashion tips??

Collective Haul! Strawberrynet

I've bought quite a few items from Strawberrynet.com this year so I thought I'd do a collective haul showing what I've bought.

First I bought the DiorSkin Forever foundation compact. I asked a friend at work what she uses and she showed me her compact and told me it was also recommended to her. I use it over foundation but it can also be used without. Also, I apply it with a powder brush but it comes with a sponge applicator.

I was bored with the body washes I normally buy at the chemist or supermarket so I thought I'd give these a go.

The blue H2O+ Clearwater shower and bath gel smells, for the lack of a better word, clean. I bought this shower and bath gel because it was the cheaper of the three. I'm using this one at the moment.

The orange H2O+ Blushing Orange shower and bath gel smells like lemon peel and orange in a soap. I bought this shower and bath gel because it came up as the most popular.

The yellow H2O+ Kiwi-Cassis bath and shower gel smells like citris and berries together in a soap. I bought this shower and bath gel, well, because it was yellow and our bathroom is black and white with yellow hand towels and knick-knacks. It is my favourite of the three.

I was, like every winter, having problems with dry skin around my nose so, after being recommended it, I bought the Ella Bache Hydra Repulp. I apply it to any dry patches after exfoliating.

Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour Blush. See my review here :)

I ran out of my Loreal Base Magique primer about 2 months ago and have been waiting until I read a good review on another primer so I could do a buy and try. Kaye at Beautiful Kayekie says that her go-to primer is the Smashbox Photo Finish and she lives in humid climate so surely this primer has stood the test of time (or should I say climate), right!? So I've bought Smashbox Beauty to Go which has a 30ml and a 15ml of this primer.

Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour Blush in Peony

This blush is A-MA-ZING! I tried it at a friends house and instantly fell in love with it. I've never loved a blush more.

The soft pinky/coral shade instantly complimented my skin tone. And it's shimmer highlighted my cheeks like never before. LOVE!

The packaging is pretty awesome too. Simple, clean, delicate and shiny - to me that screams 'I'm fancy!'

I had to buy it! The only downfall is that it's a bit pricey. But that's to be expected from a high end brand. I paid $38.50 from strawberrynet.com.

Beauty Tip Ten: How to Apply Your Mascara to Get the Winged Lash Effect

To achieve maximum coverage when applying mascara simply jiggle the wand in a zigzag motion as you apply from the base to the tips of your lashes. This results in more mascara coating the lashes.

Designer Brands Chubby Lipstick Crayon in Enchanted Rose

I have always wanted to try the Clinique Chubby Sticks but never wanted to pay the high price tag. So thank you Designer Brands for coming up with your own version for me to try!

There are four shades in their wind-up Chubby range - Dollface, Guava Kiss, Kiss and Tell and Enchanted Rose. I purchased 411 Enchanted Rose.

Colour: It is a dusty pink colour.

Pigmentation: Covers like a lipstick, 7/10.

Application: It is easy to apply - much easier than applying a lipstick. It's more like you are applying a lip gloss.

Texture: Smooth, creamy and hydrating.

Longevity: It was 4 hours before I had to re-apply.

Packaging: Standard DB black packaging with silver writing.

Price: $7.99.

Overall: I really can't fault anything about this product. I love the colour, easy application, texture and its longevity. I was also pleasantly surprised by its pigmentation.

Fitness: My Home Workout

Today was a 3.98km run/walk/workout around Lake Monger.

When I say run/walk it's because I can't run the whole distance - yet!

When I say it's a run/walk/workout it's because there are workout stations positioned alongside of the path where you can stop and work your arms, legs and abs.

There will eventually be iPhone and Android apps so you can track your goals as you are working out (calico.com.au). Until then I am using RunKeeper to track time, distance and calories burned.

August Empties

I have learned that there is nothing more satisfying than finishing a beauty product.

As I have a countless number of beauty products I have put aside and forgotten I thought it's about time I did my own monthly 'empties' posts. Besides if you, like me, love to read other bloggers 'empties' posts then why not, right??

So here is what I managed to finish up for the month of August. It's not much but now there are four less items cluttering my shower!

Redken All Soft Shampoo: I also had the conditioner but that was used up yonks ago. Not really a favourite of mine. Probably won't purchase it again.

Redken Body Full Shampoo: This is a product I would buy again. It left my hair clean (but not squeaky) and feeling light. Out of all the volume shampoos I have used this one gets the vote from me!

Redken Body Full Light Conditioner: Again it gets my vote. It's not a heavy conditioner but it does its job.

Palmolive Naturals Shower Milk: When I bought this shower milk I was looking for a cheap shower gel. This one was $2.00 for 250ml from the Reject Shop in Perth. I have a love/hate relationship with the fragrances of the Palmolive shower gels - they all seem to smell the same to me.

Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion: This was part of a gift with purchase that I received about 2 years ago. I really don't like using highly fragrant beauty products and this is one product that is and that's why it has taken me so long to use it. The one thing I do like about it though is the richness of the cream.

Active Tan Self-Tanning Wipes

After talking about the  Natio tanning wipes in a recent post I found these bad boys in Gloss. You get 20 self-tanning wipes for $6.95 so if they produce a good tan then they are much better value.

So, do they produce a good tan? Yes. I used them just the other night for the tops of my legs. No streaking and a natural looking tan. Easy!

I will be buying these again.

Have you used these self-tanning wipes? If so, what did you think of them?

Natio Tanning Wipes: The Best Thing Since the Invention of Sliced Bread!

Are they?! Yes, they are bloody awesome! With these, I save time and I also save my white bathroom tiles! Who would have thought of such a simple thing? I wish I did.

Simply put, each tanning wipe is the size of a baby wipe. And, for me, one tanning wipe does both legs.

They are fast drying, give a natural even looking sunless tan and tan is buildable so you can achieve your desired shade.

To use just apply onto the skin evenly. Takes 3 hours for tan to develop.

Natio tanning wipes come in a pack of 6 individual wipes for (if I recall correctly) $7.95.

Project Pan Update

Back in February I started my own project pan to stop myself from buying unnecessary make-up items. I think I did pretty well. In fact, I didn't buy anything make-up related until late July.

So what did I completely finish?

Maybelline Mineral Powder: I used it mostly as a finishing powder but it has great coverage if used on its own too. I think it was Medium 2 shade.

Face Of Australia blush: This was my everyday blush for a very long time, even after I dropped it. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the shade however it was a subtle rose colour.

Natio Pressed Powder: This was my go-to face powder for as long as it lasted. It was discontinued.

Maybelline Age Rewind Primer: I love this primer! I will be re-purchasing this again. It's a silicone based primer and we all know I love those!

Sephora Foundation Sample: This foundation is quite thick so you only need a little bit.

Seacret body lotion: I was surprised how easy this lotion absorbed into the skin. A nice light one for summer. I think it is similar to the Vaseline Intensive range of body lotions.

Designer Brand body butter: This body butter is similar to the Body Shop body butters but for a third of the cost. It comes in the pump as pictured above or in a tub.

Paris Hilton, Gucci Flora and Elizabeth Arden body lotions: These came in packs with their respective fragrances.

Shiseido AV1 mascara: This was my holy grail (HG)  mascara until I discovered the Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara.

Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara: This was my HG until I discovered the Designer Brand Amplify mascara.

Designer Brands Amplify mascara: LOVE LOVE LOVE. Will forever be repurchasing. This was in my project pan as it was in the colour brown and I like to where black mascara.

Revlon New Complexion : This foundation is a light to medium foundation. I found it good to use in the winter when my skin was lacking moisture.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation: This foundation is a medium to heavy foundation. This was my go-to foundation for a very long time and would purchase it again but I have found a dupe which is have the price of this foundation.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: I bought this to use as a primer however I found it is better suited to be used as a 10 minute moisture mask.

Schwartzkopf Rescue Repair: Great for split ends. I love this brand in general and have yet to be disappointed.

I haven't quite finished this project pan even though I gave myself 3 months to use these products. As you can see there are a few items I am still trying to finish.
