Taylor Vs. Wonderland Zu Shoes

In light of the fact that my favourite nude shoes were damaged in Rome the first thing I had to do after I got over jet-lag was to go to Zu and replace them with the exact same pair. To my disappointment the shoes had gone on sale while I was on holiday and there were none left. Would you believe they went on sale for $30 a pair? I would have surely bought a couple of back ups if I saw them at that price! Anyway, since I couldn't replace my damaged shoes with the exact same pair I settle for a style called Taylor with the only difference being the height of the heels which on the new pair are taller.

FishMe Spa Mykonos

While I wasn't brave enough to try it I was intrigued to find a beauty spa of a different kind in Mykonos.

FishMe Spa - Mykonos

Honestly, I thought it was a jewellery shop with fancy aquarium displays but people had their feet in the fish tanks and the fish were giving them pedicures by eating away dead skin cells from their feet!!!

The fish are called "Young Doctors" or Garra Rufa which with their healing abilities are able to give a whole spa treatment. Promising to be painless and harmless these fish exude an enzyme with healing abilities and also remove dead skin cells without harming new ones.

Would you do it?

Photographs are from the fishme website photo gallery.

Eight Mascaras

The idea for an eight-part series on mascara has come to be as I opened my make-up draw and counted 8 mascaras that I currently have on rotational use. Some I like and some I don't like, some do what they say they will do and others don't. Basically, I will do a review on each including what type of mascara it is and give my 2 cents.

My collection includes:

  1. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
  2. Designer Brands Amplifying Mascara
  3. Rimmel Sexy Curves Full Volume and Curve Mascara
  4. Loreal Paris Double Extension Mascara
  5. Shiseido Advanced Volume Mascara AV1
  6. Designer Brands Xtreme Double Ended Mascara
  7. BYS Fibre Extension Mascara
  8. Revlon DoubleTwist Mascara

Stay tuned :)

Latest Lust: Shoe Closets

Over the weekend I developed a case of what I call shoe closet envy. This has come about because my shoes sit on the bottom of a deep wardrobe on an unsightly slant. My more expensive shoes live on a small set of inbuilt shelves or in their shoe boxes but this just doesn't do anything for me.

I need shelves...like these!!

Fake a French Manicure With Chi Chi Spenderella Nail Polish

On the nails this colour makes the nail beds pink and the tips of the nails white. This makes faking a french manicure simple!

Steps for a quick manicure or pedicure

1. Remove any existing nail polish from the nails.

2. Apply some nail cream or cuticle remover to the cuticles (either will do).

3. While the nail cream or cuticle remover is softening the cuticles shape your nails (I prefer squoval as in the photo).

4. With a cuticle stick push your cuticles back to tidy up the nails (Don't cut your cuticles it is a protective barrier!).

5. Prep your nails for nail polish by giving them a quick buff with the rough side of a buffing block. This helps the nail polish adhere to the nail better than if the nails were smooth.

6. Give your nails a quick clean with a swipe of nail polish remover on each to remove any residue from the nails.

7. Apply one coat of Chi Chi Spenderella and let it dry for a couple of minutes (Coats should not be too thick).

8. Apply a second coat of Chi Chi Spenderella.

9. Once nail polish is dry massage some more nail cream into your cuticles to keep them conditioned (I skip this step a lot as you can see my dry cuticles in the photo, lol).

Enjoy your fake french manicure :)

How To Wear Clogs

I bought these clogs from Zu after deciding that I would find some way or another to wear them. After some deliberating I finally wore them out to dinner a few weekends ago. I wanted to get a picture of me wearing the outfit but I couldn't wait any longer to write this blog!

Here Was My Inspiration

From My Wardrobe

I finished this look off with a pair of black stockings as in the picture I used for inspiration.

Things I'm Loving July

Harem Pants

I love harem pants! They are comfortable and they can be dressed up or down. I have them in brown, silver, black and khaki...I may be a little obsessed...

Australis Paparazzi Perfect Blush

These blushes are highly pigmented and so lovely to wear.

Platform Heels

Not that I need to be taller...I just feel more feminine in a good pair of heels.

Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum

I'm using this to fight the dry winter air.

MoroccanOil Restorative Hair Mask

With my long hair split ends are a problem. But after discovering this product the ends of my hair feel smoother and stronger, and dare I say my hair is more manageable.

Let me know if you want a more in-depth review of any of these products :)

Dupe: MAC Dazzleglass Moth To Flame Vs. BYS Diamond Shine Lipgloss 02 In The Rough

I went into Gloss to pick up a few beauty products but what I didn’t realize is that I bought a lipgloss similar to one that I already have. In fact, they are so similar that I just had to blog about it!
So, here is MAC Dazzleglass Moth to Flame with it’s dupe BYS Diamond Shine Lipgloss 02 In The Rough!

How Similar are they?
Colour: They are both a dusty pink champagne colour. However, the MAC Dazzleglass is more peachy and the BYS Diamond Shine is more dusty.
Fragrance:  They both smell fruity, but the fruity smell of the BYS Diamond Shine is more noticeable.
Consistency: They are both thick but the MAC Dazzleglass is stickier than the BYS Diamond Shine.
Shine: The MAC Dazzleglass is a lot more glittery so if you like glitter on your lips go for this one, but if you don’t like so much glitter on your lips go for the BYS Diamond Shine.
Cost: The MAC Dazzleglass is $28.00 and the BYS Diamond Shine is $4.95!

The Swatch!

MAC is on the left and BYS is on the right

Beauty Tip Six: How To Store Your Perfume Correctly!

Depending on ingredients and storage perfume will last between 3 and 5 years. To prolonge the life of your perfumes store them in a dark, cool cupboard. Storing them in direct sunlight, heat, or cold (such as the fridge) alters the notes ultimately ruining them.

A Beautiful 3D Phone Case

With my new HTC Desire HD I was determined to find a pretty case for it and since failing to find one I liked in stores (mainly because most cases were for the iPhone) I searched for 3D cases on ebay and found this.

Why should iPhones have all the fun? :)
